Features and Benefits
- The Arraid AEM-8 replaces obsolete HP CS/80 disk and tape drives, with brand new solid-state drives.
- The Arraid AEM-8 replaces obsolete Bering Technology disk and tape drives, with brand new solid-state drives.
- The Arraid AEM-8 is Made in America
- Arraid LLC, is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). We design and then hand-build each AEM-8 at our Phoenix, Arizona production facility. We produce our own circuit cards, internal peripherals, and chassis assemblies.
- The AEM-8 is simple to install. No hardware or software changes are required. The HP Operating System, applications, and diagnostic software are supported.
- The AEM-8 can be used as a replacement for obsolete storage devices or in can be used along with obsolete hardware (daisy chaining).
- The AEM-8 uses Compact Flash (CF) media for storage. Other than the cooling fans, the AEM-8 has no moving parts that can wear-out or require adjustments.
- The CF media can be enclosed for greater security, or the CF media can be removable.
- The HP CS/80 drive to be emulated is selected from the operator panel. The same AEM-8 device can emulate many types of HP-IB drives.
- Additional features and options include internal backup/restore, and drive sectoring which can allow multiple volumes on a single CF module.
- The AEM-8 is very reliable, with near zero maintenance required. The installation, operation, and troubleshooting of the AEM-8 requires minimal technical skill. The training requirements are minimal.

Standard Models and Enclosures
AEM-8 Versions
The AEM-8 is available in four basic models. Each model can be programmed to match a wide variety of HP CS/80 disk and tape devices, or a variety of Bering Technology devices.
The four Arraid AEM-8 models are:
AEM-8/NB
The AEM-8/NB is a single disk drive emulator, in a 19” rack-mount chassis. The CF card included with the device is 1GB SLC-class industrial quality. Larger CF cards are available, with the next increment being 4GB. The AEM-8/NB is a plug & play replacement for HP CS-80 or Bering technology devices that have a single disk drive. The AEM-8/NB includes support for multi-volume sectoring. The CF card slot can be open or closed.
AEM-8/HDD
The AEM-8/HDD is a dual disk drive emulator, in a 19” rack-mount chassis. The two CF cards included with the device are 1GB SLC-class industrial quality. Larger CF cards are available, with the next increment being 4GB. The AEM-8/HDD is a plug & play replacement for HP CS-80 or Bering technology devices that have dual disk drives. The AEM-8/HDD includes support for multi-volume sectoring and internal copy/backup capability. One or both CF card slots can be open or closed.
AEM-8
The AEM-8 is a single disk drive emulator combined with a dedicated backup Magneto-Optical (MO) drive emulator, in a 19” rack-mount chassis. The two CF cards included with the device are 1GB SLC-class industrial quality. Larger CF cards are available, with the next increment being 4GB. The AEM-8 is a plug & play replacement for HP CS-80 or Bering technology devices that have a single disk drive with backup MO device. The AEM-8 includes support for multi-volume sectoring and internal copy/backup capability. The disk drive emulator CF card slot can be open or closed.
AEM-8/RMC
The AEM-8/RMC is a single magneto-optical (MO) drive emulator, in a 19” rack-mount chassis. The CF card included with the device is 1GB SLC-class industrial quality. Larger CF cards are available, with the next increment being 4GB. The AEM-8/RMC is a plug & play replacement for several HP CS-80 tape devices.
